Flash Catalyst, Flash Builder 4, Flex 4 SDK Beta Launch

Three new stars are up on the horizon. Today, June 1st, Adobe is launching three new products:
- The Flex 4 SDK – completely Open Source and the foundation for both Flash Catalyst and Flash Builder
- Flash Catalyst – a completely new product, a professional interaction design tool for rapidly creating application interfaces and interactive content without coding.
- Flash Builder 4 – formerly known as Flex Builder, a professional-grade development tool designed to help software developers rapidly build cross-platform rich Internet applications (RIAs) and content using the open source Flex framework.
A shared framework for design and development
Leveraging the Flex framework, designers can create functional application UI in Flash Catalyst that can be imported into Flash Builder where developers can bind services to Flex components and build out application logic. Both Flash Catalyst and Flash Builder have access to over 100 proven, extensible UI components, behaviors and controls included in the Flex framework, and support custom component creation.
Out now
All three products are out now in beta. You can download them from labs.adobe.com
On a personal note: I’m at video2brain right now, recording the first German video training for Flash Catalyst. To make the start even more enjoyable, I have prepared a Catalyst file (*.fxp) for you, with the iPhone interface - a fully working keyboard and the simulation of a SMS conversation through component states. And all is Flash
